Renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma and pianist Kathryn Stott offer “Songs of Comfort and Hope.” They say the hardships of 2020 inspired their latest album.

It’s the first time the duo has created an album with a pandemic in mind.

Yo-Yo Ma says it’s dedicated to everyone who’s had a rough year.

“This is really dedicated to all the people that are going through tough times. And, you know, lost people who are, who are pushing through and leading the strenuous life.”

The album includes songs from around the world.

“All of these songs have, I think, specific meaning for people in different places, and since this is, you know, a worldwide epidemic and, and it’s one of the few things that actually all at once are joining us together,” said Ma.

The album is set for release on Friday.
