NATO is considering sending more troops to Afghanistan.

About 13,00 NATO troops train and advise the Afghan army, mostly from the United States. The group’s military arm wants a few thousand more.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made it quite clear that there would be no return to a combat mission in Afghanistan for NATO.

The mission would “continue to be a train, assist and advise operation, because I strongly believe that the best answer we have to terrorism,” Stoltenberg said.
