NBC not only bought the popular comedy television series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” from Fox in May, but also just announced on Sept. 7 that it would add five more episodes to the next season.

As a result, the series will have a total of 18 episodes for Season 6, which is about a forty percent increase.

This series depicts the lives of police officers in Brooklyn’s 99th precinct, where the new Captain Ray Holt, played by Andre Braugher, clashes with young detective Jake Peralta,  played by Andy Samberg.

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” was first released on Sept. 17, 2013 and has won two Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series and Best Actor for Samberg in 2014.

The show was also nominated for Best Stunt Coordination for 2015’s Emmy Awards. In 2016, Andre Braugher won Critics’ Choice Television Award for best supporting actor.

Produced by Universal Television, the series’ release date of Season 6 is yet to be announced.
