New and Unusual Ways Organized Crime Rings Are Targeting Trucking Companies

Trucking companies are reporting more and more thefts. Some are happening in new and unusual ways.

Co-owner of J.K.C. Trucking Inc. Mike Kucharski shared one example of thieves posing as the company and trying to book loads in its name. Theft has become so prevalent that Mr. Kucharski said thieves are stealing anything. Historically, companies would closely watch over high-priced items, but now anything will get stolen. Unlike in the past, products are no longer being recovered because Mr. Kucharski says the thieves are part of organized crime rings and stolen goods are quickly being liquidated. He also explains how he and others in the industry are doing their best to stop the thefts, which ultimately consumers are paying for.
