Gionee are clear just who they are aiming their new phones at, their consumers are young, heavy mobile users, who want ease of use, coupled with long battery life and a super-fast charge.

The new premium Gionee A1 Plus has a 20 megapixel front camera and the A1 has a 16 megapixel camera.

According to Gionee’s President William Lu, the A1 Plus is capable of producing the best quality selfies and has one of the longest lasting batteries.

Cutting a dash at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Gionee promised a new and bold line-up.

Both the new phones run on Android 7 and have 64GBs of inbuilt memory.

Unveiling the phones on stage, company president William Lu announced the price of the new phones will be 349 Euros for the A1 and 499 Euros for the A1 Plus.

Lu says: “For A1 and A1 plus we are focussing on making a good selfie and good battery life products because we found that the number one concern for our customers is that they are always facing a shortage of battery power, so of course that’s why I wanted to improve battery life. Number two is, the feature that they most often use is the camera. So that is why we are focusing on the battery and the camera. This, I think, is the initiative behind these two products. For A1 Plus for the selfie camera it has 20 mega front cameras and also we are using 4 cell technologies which makes 4 pixels in one pixel size which will improve picture quality dramatically. This will be the best, perfect selfie in the world.”

Both the phones will go on sale this April.

The MWC technology fair opens on February 27 and runs through March 2.
