Sci-fi fans can expect to get a powerful dose of advanced science and technology plus thrilling action from the upcoming film “Kin,” which opens in theaters in just a couple of weeks.
An adopted young boy named Eli, played by Myles Truitt, accidentally finds an incredibly powerful extraterrestrial weapon. He uses it to protect his older brother Jimmy, played by Jack Reynor, who was just released from prison.
The young actor Myles Truitt was born on February 1, 2002 and starred in the film when he was just 13 years old.
His character’s adopted father, played by Dennis Quaid, says, “I just need you to stay out of trouble,” warning him of his older brother, who always seems to be in trouble.
Meanwhile, Jimmy tries to approach a criminal acquaintance named Taylor, played by James Franco.
“I know I owe you guys some money I just want you to know that I’m not dodging you,” says Jimmy.
However, the two brothers end up being chased by Taylor, federal agents, and some mysterious soldiers. They are forced to flee with the strange weapon, which serves as their only protection.
Along the way, Eli and Jimmy develop a strong family bond, with a close friend played by Zoe Kravitz at their side.
“I know I’m not a good guy, but it’s been pretty incredible to be brothers for the first time,” says Jimmy.
The film is Jonathan and Josh Baker’s directorial debut, based on the brothers’ 2015 short film “Bag Man.”
“Kin” is rated PG-13 for gun violence and intense action and will hit theaters on August 31.
