New U.S. ambassador to Israel welcomed by Netanyahu

The new ambassador to Israel was welcomed by Netanyahu amid recent controversy.

The new ambassador visited the Western Wall first upon his arrival in Israel, soothing over recent doubts. In a preparation visit, a Trump aid supposedly caused controversy by disputing Israel’s claim to the Western Wall.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was enthusiastic, “Welcome, it’s a pleasure to see you, to welcome you to Jerusalem, our eternal capital. I know you went to the Kotel (Western Wall), it’s deeply appreciated by all our people. It was a strong gesture of solidarity. We look forward to receiving President Trump and we want to work with you and with the president these coming years, to strengthen our great alliance.”

Ambassador David Friedman was previously Trump’s lawyer and an adviser for Trump’s presidential campaign.
