People have been playing marbles at Tinsley Green in West Sussex for hundreds of years. This year 12 teams from England and two from other countries, Germany and the United States competed.

We’ve got two different sorts of people who play here, we’ve got people who come along for fun, they normally get knocked out in the first rounds, they have a jolly good time, they’ve partaken in the championship. And then toward the later stages when the better teams come through we have people who are skilled at the game, and it’s really nice to watch the skilled players go from marble to marble building up a score,” said Sam McCarthy-Fox, the organizer.

The Johnson Jets were ecstatic to take home the championship this year.
