Tens to hundreds of thousands of people usually gather at Times Square on New Year’s Eve. The ball descends at midnight to mark the start of the new year.

Last year, only preselected first responders attended in-person, but this year, it’s going to be open to the public again, according to CBS New York.

They say visitors will have to provide either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to attend.
