New York Mayor Eric Adams on Tuesday defended actions he took in 2021 while serving as Brooklyn Borough president in the midst of an FBI investigation into whether he improperly conspired with the government of Turkey to fast-track the permitting process for the nation’s new consulate building in Manhattan.

Mr. Adams denied knowing about a “list” kept by the mayor’s office of companies that would receive preferential treatment.
The federal investigation hit headlines earlier this month when agents searched the home of Mr. Adams’ 2021 mayoral election campaign’s chief fundraiser, Briana Suggs.
