Norway considers terrorist attack possible

Norway has raised the nation’s security threat level following an Oslo bomb scare on April 8.

A 17-year-old Russian youth who had lived in Norway for seven years was arrested on April 9, after planting an explosive device in a popular nightlife neighborhood in Oslo.

Benedicte Bjoernland, head of Norway’s Police Security Service (PST) said at a press conference, “”PST have arrested a 17-year-old Russian citizen living in Oslo.”

“The person came as an asylum seeker in 2010,” she continued.

“Up until now PST’s assessment has been that a terrorist act is possible in 2017 in Norway. The assessment now, for the next two months is that it’s likely that a terrorist act could happen in Norway,” she said.

The threat level was raised from possible to probable.

PST is not certain that the teen actually planned a terrorist attack. It is also unsure if he worked alone or with a group.

The entire Scandinavian region was on edge after a rejected migrant in Sweden hijacked a truck and drove through a crowd, killing four, on April 7.
