President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida met at the White House Wednesday and announced a major upgrade to the U.S.–Japan alliance. The upgrade covers greater defense and intelligence cooperation and aims to send a message to communist China.

President Biden told Spanish-language TV station Univision that he plans to use executive powers to tackle the illegal immigration crisis. This came as a new Rasmussen poll found that 64 percent of likely U.S. voters said the situation at the southern border can be called an “invasion.”

The House voted against a rule to allow debate on a bill to reauthorize FISA. The controversial law allows U.S. intelligence to spy on foreign nationals, but also to sweep up communications of U.S. citizens. In a post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump asked House Republicans to “kill FISA.”

President Trump’s lawyers filed another appeal in the hush money case in New York. They challenged the judge’s order denying President Trump from arguing he has presidential immunity. Meanwhile, former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg was sentenced to a five-month jail term as part of a plea agreement.
