The Supreme Court Tuesday declined to rule on a so-called holistic admissions policy at Virginia’s Thomas Jefferson high school, one of the nation’s most prestigious public schools. This means the school can continue to favor applicants who are economically disadvantaged, and that academic performance is not necessarily the main factor in admissions.

The Supreme Court also rejected appeals from seven Trump-allied attorneys, including Lin Wood and Sidney Powell. The group faces legal sanctions in Michigan for filing lawsuits that challenged the results of the 2020 presidential election.

The United States has vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. Drafted by Algeria, the resolution doesn’t call for the release of hostages. At the same time, the U.N. World Food Program said it has paused food deliveries to northern Gaza for safety reasons.

The Biden administration will announce major sanctions against Russia later this week. That’s over the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny and the war in Ukraine.

President Biden headed to California for several fundraising events. And GOP candidate Nikki Haley said she will stay in the race after the South Carolina primary on Saturday.
