President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump made dueling visits to different sectors of the Texas–Mexico border. Both sought to blame the other for the ongoing border crisis.

A federal judge blocked a new law in Texas that would allow the state to arrest illegal immigrants. The judge said it violated the Constitution’s supremacy clause, which grants the federal government sole authority over immigration matters.

An estimated 100 people were killed in Gaza when crowds swarmed trucks carrying humanitarian aid, with one driver then plowing into the crowd. Israel and other countries in the region have been using other methods, such as airdrops, to deliver humanitarian aid to the territory.

The House has voted to pass stopgap funding bills that will avert a partial government shutdown for one more week. It would give lawmakers more time to pass full-year budget bills. 97 Republicans and two Democrats voted against the measure.

President Trump has appealed an Illinois judge’s ruling to remove him from the state’s ballot. And in the classified documents case, he filed new motions to dismiss the case, saying the charges against him are “too vague.”
