The war between Israel and Hamas is now the deadliest of five Gaza wars, with over 4,100 people killed. The first evacuation ship carrying Americans left Israel and headed to Cyprus on Oct. 16. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon and their Iranian backers that they will pay a high price if they become involved in the war. Meanwhile, U.S. President Joe Biden is considering a trip to Israel to bolster support for the country.

A judge imposed a limited gag order on former President Donald Trump, restricting him from making public statements attacking the witnesses, prosecutors, or court staff involved in the federal criminal case in which he stands accused of conspiring to overturn the 2020 election.

On Capitol Hill, House Republicans are gearing up for a vote on the speakership, which will take place at noon on Oct. 17. Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is the elected nominee, but it remains to be seen if he has enough votes to secure the gavel.
