A previously hidden transcript of an interview conducted by a U.S. House of Representatives panel that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021 breach of the U.S. Capitol has been revealed that apparently undermines one of the committee’s key claims. The committee said in its final report that it “found no evidence” to support the idea that former President Donald Trump had ordered 10,000 National Guard troops to be ready for Jan. 6. But testimony from Anthony Ornato, who was the White House deputy chief of staff during the breach, supports claims that Trump did in fact do so—and was turned down. Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), who released the transcript, is accusing the Jan. 6 committee of withholding evidence to support a narrative.

The U.S. military has evacuated some of its embassy personnel from Haiti, and will bolster security around the U.S. embassy there amid escalating violence. The U.S. Southern Command said the airlift of personnel was consistent with standard practice for embassy security worldwide. Haiti is currently in a state of emergency following large-scale gang violence that is threatening to bring down the government.

At least 50 people were injured March 11 on a Chilean LATAM Airlines plane from Sydney during what the airline called “a technical event during the flight which caused a strong movement.” In the United States, local media also reported that a twin-engine plane crashed near Hot Springs, Virginia on Sunday, killing five people. In addition, Alaska Airlines has said it is cooperating with a DOJ criminal investigation after a door plug blew off one of its Boeing 737 MAX planes in January.
