The House voted to oust Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) on Dec. 1 in an unprecedented move. He’s currently facing 23 federal charges that include financial fraud and making false statements, but Mr. Santos is the first Representative to ever be expelled from Congress without a conviction. Most House Democrats and 105 Republicans voted in favor of his expulsion.

Michigan lawmakers are working to overhaul the state’s election laws, with 16-year-olds now allowed to register to vote. Additionally, formerly incarcerated citizens will be automatically registered to vote upon their release.
