The United States military is set to strike targets in Iraq and Syria over a number of days, CBS reported U.S. officials as saying. The strikes are in response to a recent drone strike that killed three U.S. service members and injured dozens more.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin claimed responsibility on Jan. 31 for not informing President Joe Biden of his hospitalization after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. “I never directed anyone to keep my January hospitalization from the White House,” Austin said.

Former President Donald Trump met Teamsters Union leaders in Washington on Jan. 31 in hopes of garnering their support. President Joe Biden headed for Michigan on Feb. 1 to meet with United Auto Workers members. Both Presidents Trump and Biden are preparing for a likely general election rematch.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is cracking down on marijuana. He recently filed a series of lawsuits against cities in Texas that have legalized the drug.
