Two objections were filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections on Jan. 12 seeking to remove President Joe Biden from the state’s 2024 Democratic presidential primary ballot. The petitioners claim that President Biden violated state election laws by having his statement of candidacy notarized in Washington, rather than in Illinois. They also claim he violated the nation’s “insurrection” clause—the same section of the Constitution that Donald Trump is being accused of having violated.

Tensions are escalating further in the Red Sea as a Houthi missile strike hit a U.S.-owned cargo ship on Jan. 15. The strike follows another attack on an American warship over the weekend.
