Utility company Xcel Energy says its facilities likely started the Smokehouse Creek fire—now the largest blaze in the state’s history. The Smokehouse fire has burned over one million acres since it erupted in the Texas panhandle last month. It has been linked to two deaths and at least 64 destroyed homes.

A Brooklyn public high school is experiencing a surge of anti-semitism, including swastika graffiti and death threats against Jewish students and teachers. Jewish civil rights leaders and advocates are calling on New York City public schools to do more to address the hatred.

James Crumbley, the father of the teenager who was convicted of killing four students at a Michigan high school almost three years ago, begins his trial March 7. Mr. Crumbley is pleading not guilty to four counts of involuntary manslaughter in the November 2021 shooting at Oxford High School.
