A remark on U.S. arms sales to Taiwan is making waves.

On Friday, Taiwan said there have been no updates on whether the U.S. will modify the arms sale.

Acting U.S. Navy secretary Hung Cao told a Senate committee in Washington that some foreign military sales were being delayed to ensure the American military has enough munitions for the Iran war.

A spokesperson said the most pressing issue now is ensuring Taiwan's special defense budget review moves forward smoothly.

Retired Marine Colonel Grant Newsham, a senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy, said he's not entirely convinced the pause on the $14 billion dollar arms sale is due to the Iran war as there may also be a political aspect to the move.
