Police have arrested five people in connection with a shooting that left an Indiana judge and his wife injured after a multi-state operation "involving hundreds of investigative hours."

The Lafayette Police Department announced the arrests in a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=815216931533634&set=pcb.815217454866915">statement</a> Thursday following the shooting of Tippecanoe Superior Court Judge Steven Meyer and his wife, Kimberly, in their home on Jan. 18.

Raylen Ferguson, 38, Thomas Moss, 43, and Blake Smith, 32, have been arrested and face at least nine felony charges, including attempted murder. Amanda Milsap, 45, was arrested on bribery and obstruction of justice. Zenada Greer, 61, faces charges of assisting a criminal and obstruction charges.

As of Friday morning, none of the five individuals had attorneys listed in public records.

All five are being held without bond. Moss and Mislap are currently being held in the Tippecanoe County jail in Indiana, while Greer is at the Fayette County Detention Center in Kentucky.

The shooting in the Meyer’s home sparked concerns for public safety and the welfare of other judges.

“I worry about the safety of all our judges,”  Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush wrote in a statement following the shooting. “As you work to peacefully resolve more than 1 million cases a year, you must not only feel safe, you must also be safe,” Rush wrote.  “Any violence against a judge or a judge's family is completely unacceptable. As public servants, you are dedicated to the rule of law.”

Meyer was injured in his arm, and his wife suffered a hip injury from the attack. Both are recovering from their injuries, according to the judge.

“I want the community to know that I have strong faith in our judicial system,” Meyer wrote in a <a href="https://www.in.gov/courts/home/jan19-statements/">statement.</a> “This horrific violence will not shake my belief in the importance of peacefully resolving disputes. I remain confident we have the best judicial system in the world, and I am proud to be a part of it.”

Meyer, a Democrat, ran unopposed for election to the Tippecanoe County Superior Court, <a href="https://ballotpedia.org/Steven_P._Meyer">according to Ballotpedia.</a> The judge was a shareholder and managing partner at Ball Eggleston, PC. at the time of his election to the bench. Meyer has practiced law in the Lafayette area for more than three decades and has served as a public defender in Tippecanoe County for 14 years.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
