The White House is demanding change at the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) after a record downward revision of the job numbers. The total number of jobs created between April 2024 and March was 900,000 less than previously estimated. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt says it shows the economy during the last administration was weaker than reported.

President Donald Trump has been critical of the revisions before the latest report. Shortly after the July jobs report, which showed two-month revisions totaling 258,000, Trump terminated bureau commissioner Erika McEntarfer.
