California Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a statewide curfew order on Thursday in an attempt to slow the spread of the CCP virus.

Workers and gatherings deemed non-essential are prohibited from leaving their homes between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., the Democratic governor said. It applies to "purple tier counties," which includes 41 of California's 58 counties.

“This means that many essential businesses that in the past we’ve called non-essential businesses—there’s a list of what’s included and not included in that category—that we ask that they close operations by 10 p.m., that people can get home by then and that they stay home. And those operations don’t resume operations until at least 5 a.m. throughout all of the purple counties," said Secretary of California Health and Human Services Dr. Mark Ghaly.

The governor received backlash for the curfew on Twitter after he was seen flouting his own mandated restrictions at a birthday party a few days ago.

On Nov. 19, Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) said Newsom was exercising his free will when he attended the party.

"I rise this morning in defense of Governor Gavin Newsom who recently defied his own idiotic Covid edicts as he partied at one of the few restaurants that he has not yet forced out of business. I defend him because he was doing what we all once did in a free society: make our own decisions over what risks we are willing to run and what precautions we are willing to take according to our own circumstances to protect our own health."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that people under the age of 49 have a 99.9 percent chance of surviving the <a href="https://www.theepochtimes.com/giving-the-right-name-to-the-virus-causing-a-worldwide-pandemic-2_3277200.html">CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus</a>, which causes the disease COVID-19 and emerged from mainland China last year. And those over 70 have a 94.6 percent chance of survival.

The curfew starts on Nov. 21, at 10 p.m. and will remain in place for one month.
