California Highway Patrol’s South Lake Tahoe deployed a helicopter to rescue two “off-road enthusiasts” whose vehicle became stuck in the strong current of the Carson River in Alpine County, according to a post on the patrol’s social media.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly wanted to “test their vehicle’s abilities,” authorities said, but “it did not go well.
