U.S. authorities arrested 52 illegal immigrants during May 11–15 as part of Operation Checkmate, out of which 36 were working as commercial semi-truck drivers.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said in a June 1 statement that most of the individuals arrested during Operation had Employment Authorization Documents issued during the Biden administration that are no longer considered valid.

The arrests come as the Department of Transportation enforces new rules restricting commercial licenses for certain foreign drivers.
