China’s coast guard on Saturday announced a new law-enforcement patrol in waters east of Taiwan, claiming the area falls under China's jurisdiction.

Taiwan rejects the claim, saying the Chinese Communists have no sovereignty in waters east of Taiwan.

It also condemned the patrol, saying it’s “illegal expansion of power in violation of international law.”

Taiwan’s coast guard sent ships to monitor 2 Chinese ships over 60 miles east of a Taiwanese air base. The Chinese ships were outside of restricted waters.
