In a historic move to reduce the United States' reliance on China, the Trump administration is launching a $12 billion rare earth stockpile.

President Donald Trump is also welcoming China to buy Venezuelan oil—but only under Washington’s rules and in U.S. dollars. How does this give the United States an edge in both energy and currency dominance?

“Going forward, every barrel of Venezuelan oil China buys will be under U.S. control—reinforcing the dollar’s role in global trade and strengthening the very system Beijing has spent more than a decade trying to dismantle,” said Johann Wadephul, German federal foreign minister.

Despite trade tensions and disagreements with the United States over Greenland, Germany warns that China still poses risks to Europe’s security and economy.
