Among the latest voices to join that conversation is a Chinese think tank expert, who claims that Peng Shuai is "unlikely" to have been sexually assaulted by a former high-ranking official in the Chinese Communist Party.

He said that the athlete is tall and strong enough to protect herself, according to a recent interview with 60 Minutes Australia.
