To avoid upgrading that conflict to war, China and India are banned from using firearms in these incidents.

Instead, troops wield more primitive weapons: steel pipes with sharpened tips.

They're said to be lightweight, and used in both defense and offense.

A Chinese military media reported that the tubes are common among Chinese border troops and can allegedly it can be thrown like javelins.
