While many media companies put the figure in the thousands, a Cuban exile group says hundreds of thousands came out. It's hard to know for sure because of the tight media control there. But we do know there was a heavy clamp-down.

And yet, a year later, the movement continues—in one form or another. And it has support outside the country too. NTD spoke with Cuban American and Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart to learn more about the situation—and American lawmakers’ actions on Cuba.
