Nevada officials say the state is still restoring government systems after a cyberattack identified Sunday forced the closure of state offices, disrupted websites and phone lines, and slowed access to public services. Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo <a href="https://x.com/JosephMLombardo/status/1960511841442111902">posted</a>, "The State is working 24/7 to restore all online services safely," along with a one-minute video explaining the attack and what services are impacted.

In an Aug. 26 statement <a href="https://x.com/JosephMLombardo/status/1960512699739332746">posted</a> on X, the Governor’s Technology Office said “the State of Nevada identified a network security incident and immediately engaged in 24/7 recovery efforts.” Officials said “the State was targeted in a cyber attack, and the incident is under active state and federal investigation.”

The statement said that the state is unable to provide technical details, but added that there is no evidence that any personally identifiable information was compromised.

State offices remained closed Monday and Tuesday but are expected to reopen later this week. “State offices will begin to offer in-person services later this week,” the Governor’s Office said, adding that agencies will announce when public counters reopen or if temporary alternatives are offered. The Governor’s Office also said it's using temporary routing and operational workarounds.

Officials cautioned that some websites and phone lines may still run slowly or go offline at times. Residents were advised that “if a site or line does not respond, please try again later.”

Essential services remained operational throughout the outage. “Emergency call-taking and essential services remain available statewide,” the statement said. The Governor’s Office stressed that payroll was not affected, noting “all State employees will be paid on time through the normal process.”
According to the release, state workers were given paid administrative leave on Monday, with many returning to offices Tuesday as systems began to recover. Officials also clarified the issue is limited to government systems. “This incident involves state government systems only,” the statement said, and does not affect private internet or phone providers.
The public was urged to be cautious during the recovery period. “Be cautious of unsolicited calls, emails, or texts asking for personal information or payments. The State will not ask for your password or bank details by phone or email,” the Governor’s Office said.
Several state agencies provided updates:

 	<li data-start="1582" data-end="1618">The Governor's Office of Management/Homeland Security reports that the 24-hour emergency duty officer phone line remains operational. However, the state’s crisis information management software and internet support are unavailable. </li>

The Department of Agriculture said inspections and labs continue using paper and hotspot workarounds.
</li>
 	<li data-start="1725" data-end="1890">The Department of Corrections said it remains focused on “ensuring safe and secure facilities.”</li>
 	<li data-start="1991" data-end="2145">
The Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation said the unemployment system is operating normally and staff are available at EmployNV hubs.

 	<li data-start="2146" data-end="2264">
The Department of Education reported staff in Carson City and Las Vegas are processing teacher licenses in person.

The Department of Motor Vehicles said its website remains up, but most in-person and online services are suspended. Rapid Registration and Turbo Titles are still available. The DMV will honor canceled appointments as walk-ins for two weeks after reopening and waive fees incurred during the outage.

 	<li data-start="2568" data-end="2718">
The Nevada Health Authority said Medicaid coverage and provider payments are fully operational, and residents can continue to access covered care.

 	<li data-start="2568" data-end="2718">Tourism and Culture Affairs noted that state museums remain closed until an operational workaround is secured.</li>
