During his two-day visit, Mr. Putin spoke with Chinese regime leader Xi Jinping about trade, energy, and security. They also discussed the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, as well as Taiwan’s sovereignty.

Russia said it would welcome China playing a role in bringing a diplomatic resolution to the war with Ukraine. This comes after Russia launched a surprise attack across the border into northeastern Ukraine this month, with Ukrainian civilians reportedly trying to flee the Kharkiv region.
