New details about the arrest of Tiger Woods have been revealed.

Woods was arrested for driving under the influence Friday after crashing his Range Rover into a truck and rolling the vehicle. Deputies who arrived on the scene found him in an impaired condition. Woods offered a number of excuses for his impairment, but deputies concluded that he was in no condition to be driving.

According to a probable cause <a href="https://i.ntd.com/assets/uploads/2026/03/id1135910-26-40761-Arrest-Affidavit.pdf">affidavit</a> from the Martin County, Florida, Sheriff's Office, deputies who arrived at the scene found Woods with bloodshot and glassy eyes. He was sweating, and his movements were described as slow and lethargic.

Woods told the deputies that he had been looking at his phone and adjusting the radio, and was unable to stop before he hit the truck in front of him.

The deputies conducted a field sobriety test; the deputy conducting the test noticed that Woods had a limp and was wearing a compression garment on his right knee. Woods responded by citing more than 20 surgeries on his leg and another 7 on his back, and said his ankle often seizes up when he walks.

Woods was also hiccupping and continuously moving his head. The deputies had to repeatedly ask him to stop during the test. Asked by a deputy if he had taken any prescription medication, Woods responded, "I take a few." He informed the officers that he had taken prescription medication earlier in the day. Deputies then searched his pockets and found two white pills, later identified as hydrocodone.

“Based on my observations of Woods, how he performed the exercises and based on my training, knowledge, and experience, I believed that Woods normal faculties were impaired, and he was unable to safely operate the motor vehicle,” the deputy concluded.

NTD News reached out to the Martin County Sheriff's Office for comment.

At around <a href="https://www.ntd.com/tiger-woods-arrested-on-suspicion-of-dui-after-rolling-his-suv-near-jupiter-island-home_1135108.html">2 p.m. Friday</a>, Woods was driving northbound on South Beach Road in his hometown of Jupiter Island, Florida. A pickup truck hauling a pressure cleaning trailer. Woods attempted to pass the truck, and the driver of the truck tried to get off the road to let him pass. Woods swerved to avoid the trailer but clipped the rear of it. The Range Rover rolled onto the driver's side and slid. Woods exited the vehicle via the passenger door.

Woods submitted to a breathalyzer test, which returned a zero result. But he refused a urinalysis test at the local jail. He is charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence with property damage and misdemeanor refusal to submit to a lawful test. It was the third such incident Woods has been involved in: in 2021, his vehicle ran off a coastal road in Los Angeles, resulting in injuries to his leg and ankle so severe that doctors considered amputation; in 2017, police discovered Woods asleep in a parked car of which the driver's side had been damaged. Woods claimed the incident was due to a bad combination of prescription painkillers, and later pled guilty to reckless driving.
