Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem joined an immigration enforcement operation in New York City on Tuesday.

Noem shared images from the early morning operation in a series of posts on X.

Several photos showed Noem speaking with federal agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).

Noem also <a href="https://x.com/Sec_Noem/status/1884198149574770980">shared a video</a> of federal agents escorting a person out of a building in handcuffs. The illegal immigrant faced kidnapping, assault, and burglary charges, according to Noem.

She thanked ICE and said illegal immigrants "will continue to be removed from our streets."

Mayor Eric Adams weighed in on the early-morning immigration crackdown.

Adams said that he directed the NYPD to coordinate with DHS to conduct a targeted operation on a person connected with multiple violent crimes in both New York City and Aurora, Colorado. According to the mayor, those crimes included burglary, kidnapping, extortion, firearms possession, and other charges.

"As I have repeatedly said, we will not hesitate to partner with federal authorities to bring violent criminals to justice — just as we have done for years. Our commitment to protecting our city’s law-abiding residents, both citizens and immigrants, remains unwavering," Adams wrote in a <a href="https://x.com/NYCMayor/status/1884292615354605590">statement</a> on X.

Noem promised to be a tough hand in carrying out President Donald Trump's immigration policies.

During her confirmation hearing, she pledged to end CBP One, a phone app the Biden administration used to process migrants outside the United States by scheduling appointments at U.S. ports of entry. That app is no longer accessible. She also pledged to reinstate a Trump-era policy that required asylum-seekers to wait in Mexico for hearings in U.S. immigration court.

Noem, a two-term governor and former U.S. congresswoman, was confirmed as DHS secretary on Saturday in a a 59-34 vote.

"My mission as Secretary of Homeland Security is to keep America safe," Noem said in a <a href="https://x.com/Sec_Noem/status/1884037912410652990">statement.</a> "Under my leadership, [DHS] will protect the American people with integrity and honesty. President Trump is putting Americans' safety FIRST."

During his first week in office, Trump signed 10 executive orders on immigration and said he would fulfill his campaign promise of mass deportations. Thousands of illegal immigrants have been arrested since Trump took office. The <a href="https://x.com/ICEgov/status/1884273605891981732">latest update</a> shows that ICE has made 969 arrests on Monday alone.

Meanwhile, the new DHS secretary is scheduled to outline her vision for the department in a <a href="https://x.com/DHSgov/status/1884268577391587712">speech</a> at 3 p.m. eastern time on Tuesday.
