A two-year-old golden doodle that was abandoned at the airport in Las Vegas now has an abundance of dog lovers vying to adopt it.

The dog, who has since been named JetBlue, was found tied to a metal carry-on baggage sizer after it was left behind at Harry Reid International Airport’s JetBlue ticket counter on Feb. 2, according to<span style="font-weight: 400;"> a <a href="https://x.com/LVMPD/status/2024218876918255662?s=20">video</a> posted </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">on X by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).</span>

An LVMPD press release states that airline staff advised the dog’s owner she was required to complete online documentation in order to travel with the animal as a service dog, and that when the required paperwork was not completed, she was denied a boarding pass.

The owner then left the dog and proceeded through the airport to the departure gate, according to authorities.

“I was trying to rebook my flight,” the owner told police officers.

The police arrested and booked her for animal abandonment and resisting arrest.

“When asked why she abandoned the dog, she stated the airline would not allow her to fly with it and claimed the dog had a tracking device—implying it was acceptable to leave the animal behind and it would return to her,” LVMPD officials said.

The LVMPD did not respond to requests for information about the identity of the dog’s owner by the time of publication.

While escorting the dog’s owner back through the security checkpoint, law enforcement said she became hostile and resisted officers’ attempts to detain her.

Airport employees and LVMPD officers said they stepped in to care for the dog while the owner was processed, and that Animal Protective Services subsequently took custody of JetBlue.

When the dog’s owner did not return to take JetBlue home, Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas (RRLV) claimed the animal, and the dog was neutered and vaccinated, according to RRLV spokesperson Danielle Roth.

After staying overnight with the veterinarian for monitoring, Roth said JetBlue was placed in a temporary foster home to recover from surgery.

“He is 100 percent a doll,” Roth told NTD. “Truly the sweetest boy. He’s doing wonderfully and recovering beautifully in foster care. At this time, we’re allowing him to rest and heal while we thoughtfully work through applications.”

RRLV has received a tremendous number of adoption applications, and Roth said the organization is carefully reviewing them to ensure JetBlue never experiences instability again.

“We’re taking great care in selecting his forever family,” Roth added. “Given the strong interest, we anticipate he will be placed once he’s fully recovered and we complete our screening process.”
