The Trump administration is suggesting that alleged fraud in Maine’s social services programs may be on par with the welfare fraud scandal in Minnesota.

Medicare and Medicaid Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said yesterday on businessman John Catsimatidis’ radio show “The Cats Roundtable” that the situation in Maine “is another big crisis” that “looks a lot like Minnesota.”

Late last year, a whistleblower alleged that millions of dollars had gone missing from Maine’s Medicaid program.

Just like in Minnesota, Dr. Oz alleges that this fraud is also connected to the state’s Somali population.

According to Oz, Minnesota and Maine are just two among many states with extensive cases of Medicare and Medicaid fraud.

Oz has repeatedly named California as one of the worst offenders.
