Former top aide to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, Linda Sun, along with Sun's husband and codefendant, Chris Hu, appeared in court for a status conference on Wednesday afternoon. The pair were charged with multiple criminal counts in early September, with Sun alleged to have worked as an agent of the Chinese communist regime.

Sun had two main requests for the judge on Wednesday. She requested that she be allowed to communicate with individuals from the Chinese consulate and mission if she ran into them in her community and for the judge to reclassify the case to expedite the proceedings. Both major requests were denied.
