The vote for speaker of the House is deadlocked as Congressman Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) fell short of the votes needed to become elected to the powerful position. The House was set to reconvene on Jan. 4 to resolve the stalemate. Some Republicans who voted against McCarthy include Reps. Andy Biggs, Lauren Boebert, and Matt Gaetz. NTD spoke to Lee Smith, columnist and author of the book "The Plot against the President," for analysis on the reason for the opposition and negotiations taking place. Smith said that some Republican representatives are not satisfied with McCarthy, citing that he has not granted enough power to committee chairs to investigate the Biden administration and law enforcement agencies allegedly targeting Republican voters.
