Joseph Trevisani, an economic and currency analyst at FXStreet, joined NTD to discuss falling interest rates.

Trevisani said tariff-driven inflation hasn’t materialized because companies have absorbed the costs. Offsetting this, he noted, is the decline in energy prices, which underpin all production activity.

In addition, tariffs have helped the United States renegotiate trade agreements with many countries around the world, benefiting the nation.

This is not an economy that looks like it needs more support from lower interest rates, Trevisani said, adding that the Federal Reserve is unlikely to lower rates before the new chair arrives in May.
