Plumes of smoke were seen rising over the southern Lebanese city of Tyre following reported Israeli strikes. Israel says it plans to extend its control in southern Lebanon as a buffer zone up to the Litani River. The area would cover territory reaching about 30 kilometers north of Israel’s border.

Hezbollah warned it would fight any move to occupy the area, calling the plan an “existential threat.”
