A judge in southern California ruled in favor of a lawsuit against the state’s governor. The lawsuit entails infringement on people’s 1st amendment rights and freedom of worship.

California Superior Court Judge Gregory Pulskamp rebuked Gov. Gavin Newsom in a ruling on Nov. 10.

Pulskamp ruled in favor of indoor gatherings of worship for several counties in southern California.

Multiple parishes sued Newsom after his lockdown orders barred them from holding indoor gatherings of any kind.

Pulskamp cited Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s dissenting opinion on a previous ruling, “it is important to note that almost all of the entities that are allowed to host indoor operations do not engage in activity that is constitutionally protected, whereas houses of worship do.”

Such entities include movie production houses and factories. The plaintiffs originally noted that office workers can be inside together all day during the workweek, but churchgoers can not be together for just an hour.

A spokesman for Newsom couldn’t be reached for comment.
