Microsoft is cutting its workforce in China. The South China Morning Post, one of Hong Kong's leading newspapers, reported that the company plans to lay off between 200 and 400 employees. The paper cited employees who said they learned about the layoffs in advance.

Microsoft is not the only major American tech company scaling back in China. After several rounds of layoffs, Dell, the U.S. computer giant, reportedly cut more than half of its China workforce last year. And tech giant IBM withdrew its research and development operations from China last year.
