All Democratic Socialists and progressive candidates endorsed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani won their House primaries on Tuesday, handing Mamdani a victory in his bid to move his party further to the left.

President Donald Trump commented on the New York primaries while answering questions from reporters during the meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House. “They’re going radical left,” Trump said. “I watched that woman last night. That’s not a socialist, I know a socialist. That woman is a communist.”

California’s billionaire tax proposal has garnered enough signatures to become eligible for the general election ballot on Nov. 3. The measure is a proposed one-time tax of up to 5 percent on California residents with a net worth of more than $1 billion as of Jan. 1 with some exceptions.
