Florida is bracing for impact as Hurricane Milton approaches—one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes in years. Expected to make landfall on Wednesday, Milton has weakened to a Category 4 hurricane and could yet hit Florida as a Category 3, meaning wind speeds of up to 130 miles per hour. The National Hurricane Center has warned of life-threatening storm surges and flooding along Florida's Gulf Coast.

Explosions lit up the night sky of Beirut late Monday as Israel conducted airstrikes on the Lebanese capital. The strikes occurred as the world marked one year since the Hamas terrorist group's attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. The Israel Defense Forces reported that fighter jets targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon with over 120 strikes in an hour. The terrorist group had launched more than 170 attacks across the border into Israel on Monday.

A Russian court yesterday sentenced a 72-year-old American citizen to nearly seven years in prison. Stephen James Hubbard was convicted on charges of serving as a mercenary for Ukraine. Russian media reported that Hubbard pleaded guilty, but his family questioned the confession. They told Reuters that he held pro-Russian views and was unlikely to have taken up weapons at his age.
