A tentative deal has been reached to keep TikTok operating in the United States. President Donald Trump will sign an executive order today that will approve a new joint venture with American investors. A seven-member board will include six Americans with backgrounds in cybersecurity and national security. TikTok developer ByteDance will retain a less than 20 percent stake and be excluded from key decisions.

A deadly shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas on Wednesday left 1 dead and 2 injured. The suspect, 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, also died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. FBI Director Kash Patel said one of the rounds of ammunition found had the words ‘Anti-ICE’ written on it. Authorities believe the attack was politically motivated. Lawmakers and Trump administration officials also repeated calls for an end to the “rhetorical assault on law enforcement.”

Time is running out before a government shutdown takes effect. With the deadline just days away, the Senate is at a standstill. Republicans want a clean short-term funding bill. However, Democrats say there will be no deal unless health care cuts are reversed and subsidies extended. The White House is warning agencies to brace for mass layoffs if the shutdown happens.
