The U.S. Supreme Court is poised to consider the constitutionality of President Donald Trump's firing of a Federal Trade Commission member, in a major test of presidential power that could imperil a 90-year-old legal precedent.

On Dec. 8, the nation’s highest court will hear the case of former Federal Trade Commission member Rebecca Slaughter, who was fired in March. A ruling in favor of the federal government would bolster the president’s ability to remove senior officials from some federal agencies.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Dec. 7 that the cease-fire brokered between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group nearly two months ago will soon move to its next scheduled phase. He also stressed the importance of disarming Hamas. Trump and Netanyahu are scheduled to have a meeting on the conflict and cease-fire later this month, Netanyahu said.
