At the same time, the Jewish Federation Los Angeles wrote in a statement that the counter-protesters "do not represent the Jewish community or our values,” and that as for the local Jewish community, “we believe in peaceful, civic discourse.”

Peter Forcelli, a former NYPD detective and a retired ATF deputy assistant director, says it is relatively common for often well-funded outside agitators to stir up violence and to incite civil unrest in the United States—and especially in an election year.
