A Frontier Airlines plane struck a person while preparing to take off from Denver International Airport late on Friday night.

Airport officials said the person had jumped the airport's perimeter fence and was struck minutes later while crossing the runway.

Officials also say a brief engine fire broke out, prompting a full evacuation of the aircraft.

All passengers on board were evacuated using emergency slides. The person who was struck by the plane died, officials said.
