The strain, called GXP2V, is similar to a strain of virus that causes COVID-19. Chinese researchers tested it on mice, and within eight days, all of them had died. Specifically, the virus attacked the brains of the mice, and their brains had been engineered to reflect human genetic makeup, though it remains unclear how the virus would affect humans.
